The Fiddlers Rest
An Irish pub run by Irish/English couple Ronan and Jo Macintyre serving homemade, traditional pub food with Kilkenny and Guinness on tap only 20 minutes from the lakes.
Open: Wednesday - Saturday 6pm-close to Sunday's 12pm-2pm and 6pm-close. Food served until 9pm.
Rumeurs Bistro
Run by a lovely English lady with bi-lingual waiting staff. If you visit on a Thursday eve or some Saturdays you may recognise a friendly face, Charlie!

St. Emilion
Well known for its wine growing estates, you can find the world famous town of the way to Bordeaux.
Chateau de Monbazillac
This area represents a quarter of the Bergerac vineyards and covers the territory of five municipalities.
Sight-seeing in the Dordogne
Natural Marvels
There are plenty of caves to visit in the Dordogne region.
You can discover prehistoric paintings at the infamous Grotte de Villars caverns, near Brantome, Lascaux Cave, near Montignac and the Font de Gaume cavern in the Vezere Valley.
There is also the Gouffre de Proumeysac, the biggest abyss in Perigord, or the Gouffre de Padirac with a boat trip on an underground river. Then near Gouffre, at Grotte de la Cave, you go several hundred meters into the mountain by a small electric train.
Castles
The Dordogne also has a large number of castles and chateaus. Visit Puyguilhem for the elegance of the first Renaissance, Jumilhac le Grand built between 13th and 17th centuries or the Castle of Hautefort a medieval fortress and one of the most impressive in the Dordogne.
There are also a lot of Castles near the Dordogne river like Chateau de Beynac a fortress with nine centruries of history, Milandes acharming Renaissance castleand Castelnaud offering magnificent panoramic views over the Dordogne Valley.
Medieval Towns
There are a lot of picturesque towns and villages steeped in medieval history and architecture in the Dordogne region. You can visit Sarlat, La Roque Gageac, Domme, Carennac, Rocamadour, Perigueux or just nearby St. Jean de Cole and Brantome.
